Printable Genogram Template
A reference template showing the full range of standard genogram symbols; structural, emotional, and medical. Open in EasyGenogram to customize and export.
What This Template Shows
Three generations with a wide range of standard genogram notation in a single diagram.
The structural layer covers marriage, divorce, cohabitation, biological, adopted, and foster child connections. The paternal grandfather is deceased with a heart disease marker; the father carries a diabetes marker; the mother has a pregnancy marker. A pet is connected to the household.
The emotional layer adds very close, conflict, distant/poor, and cutoff lines across different relationships. The symbol legend is displayed below the diagram and covers every symbol used. For full definitions and clinical usage, see Genogram Symbols Explained.

FAQ
Can I print a genogram for free?
Yes. Open the template in EasyGenogram at no cost, customize it, and export as PDF for printing. Export requires a subscription for most users; students with a valid school email can export free.
What symbols does a printed genogram need to include?
At minimum, a printed genogram needs person symbols (squares for males, circles for females, X through a shape for deceased members), structural relationship lines (marriage, divorce, parent-child), and a symbol legend. Clinical genograms add emotional relationship lines and health markers depending on the purpose.
What size should I print a genogram?
A standard three-generation genogram fits on A4 or letter size at normal margins. Larger diagrams like four generations or wide extended family structures print better on A3 or tabloid. Export as PDF from EasyGenogram and set the page size in your print dialog.
Can I use this for a social work assignment?
Yes. The template follows McGoldrick-Gerson-Petry standard notation, which is the format required by most social work, counseling, and psychology programs. Open it in EasyGenogram, adjust the structure for your assignment, and export as PDF for submission.
How do I save my genogram as a PDF to print?
Click the export button in EasyGenogram and select PDF. The file downloads to your device and is ready to print.
