Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use it when a client is trying to become more active but proposed activities feel arbitrary, obligation-driven, or disconnected from what matters.

What It Captures

The map captures values in the client's own terms, activity targets, and rationale connecting the activity to recovery goals.

Limitations

The tool does not provide a standardized values inventory, value ranking, symptom score, diagnostic interpretation, or system-generated values.

Does the tool define the client's values?

No. Values are entered by the client or seeded by the practitioner from prior discussion; the system does not invent them.

Can one value have more than one activity?

Yes. The map supports one or more activity targets linked to a value.

What happens if an activity is too broad?

The review flags broad targets for refinement so they can become specific enough for scheduling or follow-up.

Can I start from values already discussed in session?

Yes. Practitioner-seeded mode lets you begin with priority value areas already discussed.
