Learn more about this tool

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use it during IPT assessment, formulation, or follow-up when the practitioner and client need a shared map of the client's current support network.

What It Captures

It captures people in the network, relative closeness or importance, reported supportive or stressful/problematic qualities, mixed or unresolved relationships, and the dated map state.

Relevant Limits

The tool does not collect contact details, social media data, diagnostic conclusions, standardized scores, or system-generated clinical interpretations.

Is Interpersonal Circle completed by the client alone?

No. Interpersonal Circle is a collaborative in-session tool used by practitioner and client together.

Does the tool score the client's relationships?

No. It visually organizes reported closeness, importance, and relationship qualities without standardized scores.

Can a partial circle be saved?

Yes. Partial maps remain reviewable, and unresolved relationship qualities should be shown as incomplete rather than interpreted.

What is saved from the public demo?

Only the tool itself is saved. Fictional demo people, sample relationship qualities, and temporary edits do not become real client data.
