COPM Performance Rating Step

COPM Performance Rating is the COPM rating step for occupational therapy practitioners completing ratings with a client. It helps the practitioner record the client's perceived performance for each selected occupational performance target at baseline or reassessment and compare ratings over time when the same target is rated again.

Learn more about this tool

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use this step after COPM targets have been selected and performance status needs to be recorded at baseline or reassessment.

Comparison Behavior

Reassessment comparison is available only when the same target identity has comparable performance ratings at different time points.

Important Limits

The product must not mix satisfaction ratings into performance results or invent anchors, thresholds, or clinical interpretations.

Is this performance rating or satisfaction rating?

This tool captures performance rating only; satisfaction rating is a separate COPM configuration.

Can reassessment work without baseline ratings?

No. Without comparable baseline performance ratings, change is unavailable for that target.

What happens if a target is added later?

The added target can be rated, but it is not comparable until it has ratings at a later time point.

What is saved?

The COPM Performance Rating tool itself and reusable time point setup are saved; demo targets and sample ratings are not saved as real client data.
