Exaggeration Experiment

Exaggeration Experiment is a live-session Gestalt tool for practitioners who notice a client's gesture, phrase, movement, or affective expression becoming partly available. It helps the practitioner invite amplification and record what changes in affect, sensation, meaning, or contact in the present session.

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use it during a live session when an expression is present but muted, habitual, or only partly available to awareness.

What It Records

The record separates the selected expression, amplification moments, client-noticed changes, practitioner observations, and integration notes.

Limits

The tool does not prescribe meaning, require conclusions, use scores, or replace live practitioner judgment.

Is this a questionnaire?

No. Exaggeration Experiment is a live-session Gestalt experiment note, not a questionnaire or assessment.

Does the tool interpret what the expression means?

No. It records reported and observed changes, while interpretation remains practitioner-entered.

Can the client use it independently?

No independent client workflow is required. A client-facing view may be shown only as in-session support if the practitioner chooses.

What happens if no new awareness emerges?

The result records that no new awareness emerged without forcing a meaning or conclusion.
