Learn more about this tool

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use it when dream material is emotionally charged, fragmented, personally important, or connected to unclear or disowned experience.

What It Captures

It captures selected dream elements, reported affect or meaning, observed resistance or identification, possible polarity, and integration notes.

Limits

The tool does not use dream dictionaries, universal symbol meanings, diagnostic interpretations, fixed scores, or automated conclusions.

Does Dream Enactment interpret symbols?

No. The tool records client-discovered meaning and practitioner observations; it does not assign symbol meanings.

Does the full dream need to be entered?

No. Fragment-level work is supported when the client remembers only parts of the dream.

Can only some dream elements be explored?

Yes. Completion depends on enough material becoming available for therapeutic exploration, not on processing every element.

What if no meaning emerges?

The result records what was explored and notes that no meaning emerged, without forcing interpretation.
