Commitment Rating

Commitment Rating is a coaching readiness and barrier check for practitioners working with a client who has identified a possible course of action. It helps the practitioner capture a 1–10 commitment rating and any remaining barriers so the action plan can be strengthened or adjusted before the conversation ends.

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

Action-Specific By Design

The rating is meaningful only when it is attached to a specific planned action. If the action changes, the prior rating should not automatically apply.

What It Does Not Infer

The tool does not diagnose motivation, predict follow-through, or explain why the client is committed or not committed. Barriers remain client-reported information for discussion.

Is the rating always required?

Yes. A completed check requires a 1–10 commitment rating tied to a specific planned action.

Can barrier capture be optional?

Yes. The practitioner can configure barrier capture to always appear, appear below a chosen rating, or remain optional.

Does a low rating automatically mean the action is wrong?

No. A low or uncertain rating is shown as a signal for discussion; the practitioner and client decide whether to strengthen or revise the plan.

Can the tool compare repeated ratings?

Repeated ratings for the same action can be compared descriptively if captured over time, but longitudinal interpretation is not required for the smallest complete product.
