Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use it after an AAC approach is already in use and the team needs to understand adoption, satisfaction, use across environments, or reduced-use risk.

What It Captures

The review captures environments, stakeholder perspectives, use patterns, satisfaction concerns, breakdowns, descriptive risk indicators, recommended changes, and review history.

Relevant Limitations

The tool does not calculate abandonment-risk scores, assign blame, generate automatic recommendations, or make funding determinations.

Does this review calculate an abandonment-risk score?

No. It identifies risk indicators descriptively and leaves recommended changes to the practitioner.

Can the review capture non-use?

Yes. If the AAC system is not being used in an environment, non-use should be recorded as the use pattern.

What if user and stakeholder reports conflict?

Both reports remain visible with their source so the practitioner can interpret the difference.

Can the review be repeated over time?

Yes. Historical reviews support monitoring whether changes sustain AAC use as contexts or preferences change.
