Capture live witnessing of a preferred story

Outsider-Witness Process is a live-session narrative therapy configuration for practitioners. It helps capture a preferred-story context, witness reflections, identity-recognizing themes, and the client's response when a preferred story or identity claim is socially witnessed.

Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

Live Process Boundary

The tool supports live witnessing and reflection capture. It is not a self-service substitute for an outsider-witness process.

What It Captures

The record includes preferred-story context, multiple witness reflections, reflected themes, links to preferred identity statements, and client response.

Partial Records

A record can remain partial when reflections are captured before the client has responded, or when preferred-story context is entered before witnesses speak.

Can the process be completed without witnesses?

No. Without witnesses, it cannot be completed as an outsider-witness process.

Does the tool rate witness reflections?

No. It records and groups reflections descriptively; it does not score quality or social validity.

What if a reflection focuses on the problem instead of preferred identity?

Capture it as off-target or not connected rather than converting it into preferred-identity content.
