Use this background section to understand when the tool fits, how practitioners use it, and what to consider before sharing it with clients.

When It Is Used

Use Mutuality Check when a peer-support interaction may feel one-sided, expert-driven, or disconnected from shared growth.

Relevant Limits

The tool does not create compliance ratings, dependency judgments, practitioner competence scores, diagnoses, blame assignments, or satisfaction measures.

Does Mutuality Check score the relationship?

No. It organizes descriptive indicators and possible adjustments without calculating a mutuality score.

Can imbalance be named by only one person?

Yes. If one person names imbalance and the other does not, the difference is preserved rather than resolved by the system.

Is this client feedback about the practitioner?

No. The tool is framed as shared reflection on relational dynamics, not feedback about the practitioner or assessment of the participant.
