Core Problem Selection

Core Problem Selection is a practitioner-only IBCT tool for clinicians beginning work with a couple. It helps practitioners organize presenting concerns into one prioritized core relationship problem, document why it is central, note whether both partners can recognize it, and revisit the target as therapy progresses.

Practitioner-Only Use

The practitioner creates and controls the selected core problem. Partner input may inform judgment outside the tool, but no direct partner completion flow is required.

Revision Over Time

When the core problem changes, the prior selection remains in history so the treatment focus can be revisited rather than overwritten invisibly.

Scope

The tool selects and documents a core relationship problem. It does not diagnose, rank problems automatically, or build a full case formulation.

Does the system choose the core problem?

No. The practitioner selects the core problem and documents rationale; the system does not rank or diagnose.

Is there a client form?

No. Client/User View is not applicable for this practitioner-only configuration.

Can the selected problem change later?

Yes. Revisions are preserved as dated history rather than overwriting the prior focus invisibly.

Can the practitioner skip candidate problems?

Yes. The practitioner can directly enter a selected problem if rationale and recognition notes are still captured according to settings.
